Hello mga bais. Merry Christmas! share lang ko sa amo ride sa ako pops. We've been planning to do this but na postpone the first time so finally, nadayon na gyud.

Route is Cebu-Bacolod via Uling and then Don Salvador, then Bacolod-Cebu via Don Salvador, then TCH.
Distance is about 164km and 159km to and from BCD.

It's been years already when we last visited our hometown. My younger siblings were also enroute via ceres bus. We're glad that we were able to catch up with the same barge with them to San Carlos and back to Toledo.

All setup early in the morning, we set off from home at 4:30am of Dec. 20, 2009.

It was still dark so we had our lights set up. As daylight broke, we began to speed up a bit to catch up with the ferry trip. My bro and sis took off from home 5:30am.

Going to Uling...

We spotted this accident

By 7am, my sis phoned us that they are already in the ferry. That's when I had my longest sprint yet! Whew! We were doing 40kph on flats, thought to myself "pastilan kabug-at sa akong bike!" =( hehehe

We arrived, settled our fees, and glad that we're on the same trip as my bro and sis.

My sis...

My bro...

My dad and I...

At 10am, we were nearing the San Carlos port after a 2-hour voyage.

Yey! We're in Negros!

From San Carlos going towards Don Salvador

After a few rolling, the climb to Don Salvador begins...

Check out the climb towards the peak on our way to Don Salvador...

At the peak, we rested and loaded up at Waddy's place... They also have affordable rooms in case magabin-an og sinikad. Heheh.

Had adobong manok, mixed vegetables, and tons of drinks! =)

Just before reaching Don Salvador, gi sugat mi ni Carlo (Lois Castillo). A strong rider..

Oops, picture2x sa... hehe.

Junction to Don Salvador... The road to left goes to Canlaon City...

After Don Salvador, we reached Murcia. The low grade descent takes you to about a half-hour glide, sometimes speeding up to 50km with some more relax pedalling. This, and the views are very rewarding it makes me wanna do long rides more often!

And we arrived in Bacolod...  Whew! Here's the new City Hall. After the torturing climb, the gradual downhill... Hmmmm, I wonder how we'd do in reverse...

It's been a while when I last set foot in Bacolod, I was almost nostalgic. I spent my elementary days in Bacolod, my highschool in Tacloban, and college in Cebu. Anyways, we had a very short vacation, and a vacation well spent with our relatives. After 3 nights, time to return to Cebu.

At 5am of Dec. 23, we pedalled our way back to Cebu.

Dropped by the church in Murcia, where my dad (bai miguel) visits often during his prime cycling career.

We also had breakfast there.. Nilat-ang baka! =)

And off we go...

This was the bridge where bai miguel used to rappel down.

During the Murcia gradual climb, snapped some panoramic shots.

One of the rolling roads. Check out the grade...

The lion statue, murag Baguio. Smiley

My bro and sis were already on board the ferry when we were about to descend from Waddy's place. And this was the downhill I have been waiting for! hehehe. Sorry no pics. Before San Carlos City, it was very windy. Good thing we were able to draft from a tricycle, and finally rejoined with my bro and sis on the same ferry. The 2-hour cross to Cebu was just enough for a nap.

Upon reaching Toledo, we had our lunch in this place owned by a Singaporean.

We decided to take up the TCH route on our way home. What were we thinking?! =)

And the climb begins...

No pics during serious mode. Hehehe.

At the top...

It's a relief reaching Cantipla. The remaining few climbs are just fine. Upon nearing Buak, we pounded our last ounce of energy for the day by sprinting to Buak. I think this was where my heart rate peaked. Hehe. Reaching Buak is as good as being home. We glided our way down to JY, ate pizza and yogurt, and we're home! whew! What a ride! Tiring, but fun. The views were really great, but not as great as my biking with my dad.. Happy biking to all! =)
